The "Pustertaler-Ski-Marathon" will take place also in 2020!

After the cancellation of the 43rd edition of "Pustertaler-Ski-Marathon " in 2019, an experienced delegation of Sesto, San Candido, Dobbiaco and Villabassa decided to reorganize the race and to hold it on January 11th 2020. Under the lead of the new president Markus Hackhofer, the race should become famous again like it was many years ago and a new very challenging track should attract many athletes to take part in the race.

After the decision from the commune of Prags to not be anymore part of the race, the track will be reversed at the 44th edition of the marathon. The start field is located in Sesto/Waldheim. The course continues up to San Candido/Innichen until Toblach/Dobbiaco through the Nordic Arena, forward in the Höhlensteintal along the lake of Toblach/Dobbiaco and Landro until the View of the three Peaks and Val Fonda where the track turns. Backwards the course passes again the Nordic Arena in Toblach/Dobbiaco and continues in direction Villabassa/Niededorf where the course after 62 km reaches the finish line located in the center of Villabassa, exactly there were also the start and finish of the famous mountain bike race “Dolomiti Superbike” is.

The 2020 edition gives life to a new track with a distance of 42 km with about 1,000 altitude difference and the finish at” Prato Piazzo “at 2,031 meters above sea level, unique in this version throughout South Tyrol.
Only the first 200 athletes who register will have the honor of climbing up to Prato Piazza, where they will be able to admire the magnificent scenery of the Dolomites after a climb of 7 km with an average gradient of 10%. This track will be traditionally covered in classic style.

The start will always be from Sesto, the route will be the same as the classic one of 62km until the junction "Vista tre Cime" and Val Fonda, and from there the athletes will continue straight up to the climb to Prato Piazza.

If for lack of snow it is not possible to reach Prato Piazza with cross-country skis, at the "Vista Tre Cime" the athletes will change their skis with running shoes and will continue running up to the most famous plateau of the Val Pusteria. This is to ensure the conduct of the race as well, as to offer athletes a unique and unforgettable experience.

Don't forget the "Puschtra Mini", which will be held on the Friday before the main race as a night sprint, and will be part of the "Tour de Kids" - a series of races organized for children.
