1. The 11th International Gran Fondo Dobbiaco – Cortina CLASSIC will take place on Saturday, February 11th 2017 with start at 10.00am at Dobbiaco (Military airport) and arrives at Cortina d’Ampezzo following a track of 50km. As last year, the CLASSIC race is part of the “VISMA SKI CLASSICS – the long distance ski championship” ranking!
The 40th Gran Fondo Dobbiaco – Cortina FREE technique will take place on Sunday, February 12th 2017 with start at 10.00am at Fiames (Sport Nordic Center) and arrives after 30km at the Nordic Arena Dobbiaco.
There is the possibility to start in both races, the so called Combination.

2. Eligible to enter are all national and international athletes (both men and women), that have fulfilled the age of 18 by February 11th 2017.

3. Registrations:

: It is NOT possible anymore to register by Fax or E-Mail!
The registrations remain open until Wednesday, 08/02/2017 at 06.00pm!
IMPORTANT: MAXIMUM 3.000 athletes on both races! If the race is sold out with a maximum of 3.000 athletes for both races, classic and skating, the registrations will then close earlier!!!

Italian citizens have to upload or send in a valid medical certificate within 5 days after registration. If it is not uploaded during the registration process, it has to be sent to the OC by Fax or E-Mail.

NEW: The registration fee becomes visible during the Online registration. The fees increase from period to period, that means the earlier you register the lower is the fee! Athletes willing to participate in the Combination have to do two registrations. Please register first for the race in classic technique and then for the skating race. There will be a discount on the second registration!
The registration only counts if the payment will be done immediately.

4. The registration fee includes: Shuttle Service, technical support, medical care, professional time-keeping, a nice gadget and the bib, as well as transportation of clothing bags and refreshments along the track and in the finish area (Pasta Party).The final refreshment will be served until 2 hours after the maximum time. For those suffering with Celiac Disease, special meals will be prepared (please inform us during registration process).

All participants finishing within the maximum time receive a finisher medal.

5. Free choice of start wave:
Every participant may choose his/her start wave during the ONLINE registration process:
ELITE – Elite skiers (Visma Ski Classics Pro Teams)
Wave 1 – race-experienced skiers
Wave 2 – good amateurs
Wave 3 – recreational skiers

IMPORTANT: Once chosen, the start wave CANNOT be changed!

The Elite wave is reserved for the Visma Ski Classics Pro Teams. Athletes with a valid FIS Code may ask during the online registration for a permission to start in Elite wave. The final decision though is taken by the Organizing Committee. The OC is entitled to reserve places in the Elite wave for certain athletes and VIPS, further it is also entitled to close a start group when the places are sold out.

6. Starting order:
Saturday, 11.02.2017 – Classic
Start at Toblach/ Dobbiaco – Hangar military airport
09.30am: ELITE WOMEN
10.00am: ELITE MEN and 1., 2. , 3. wave (women and men)

Sunday, 12.02.2017 – Skating
Start at Fiames – Sport Nordic Center at 10.00am (ALL WAVES TOGETHER)

7. Bib distribution: Start packages containing the bibs will be distributed:
Friday, 10.02.2017 from 10.00am till 07.00pm: Race office at Toblach/ Dobbiaco (Grand Hotel)
Saturday, 11.02.2017 from 07.30am till 09.30am: Race office at Toblach (Grand Hotel)
Saturday, 11.02.2017 from 02.00pm till 07.00pm: Race office at Toblach (Grand Hotel)
Sunday , 12.02.2017 from 07.30am till 09.30am: Race office at Fiames (Sport Nordic Center)

IMPORTANT! – ALL participants have to show a copy of the payment receipt when they pick up their bibs!
ATTENTION! – Only ITALIAN citizens: It is NOT sufficient to show the FISI card 2016/17 when collecting the start package. It is absolutely necessary to show a copy of a valid medical certificate!

The registration fee will not be reimbursed, if the athlete cannot start for whatever reason (even force majeure) or if he/ she does not pick up the bib. The registration cannot be carried on to the next year! It is not allowed to change bibs with other athletes, a change of name is possible against a fee of 30,00€.

8. Timing gates: Time-keeping is done electronically with a microchip. Therefore participants are obligated to enter the starting area with skis in their hand and a visible bib. Participants that did not accredit for the start are automatically excluded from the race.

For the race in classic technique on Saturday, 11.02.2017, timing gates are positioned at the War cemetery (km 20) and at Cimabanche (km 34,5)! Participants that pass these checkpoints after 12.30pm (war cemetery) or 02.30pm (Cimabanche) are disqualified. They can finish the race on own behavior and responsibility. The maximum time to finish the classic race is set to 6 (six) hours (crossing finish line until 04.00pm)!

The skating race on Sunday, 12.02.2017 has one timing gate at Cimabanche (km 12) that should be passed until 12.30pm. The maximum time to finish the race is 3,5 (three and a half) hours or until 01.30pm!

The Organizing Committee may, in accordance with the race director and the jury, change the timing gates and maximum time to finish the race.

A fee of Euro 50,00€ (fifty) will be charged for microchips NOT returned.

9. Checkpoints and race assistance: Along the track, several checkpoints are positioned. Participants that do not pass all checkpoints will be disqualified. Disqualification is also necessary if an athlete deliberately delays the arrival, moves away from the official race track, is overtaken by the patrols closing the track and /or if he/ she is not able to continue the race.

On Saturday, only the classic technique is permitted, while on Sunday the race in free technique takes place. The use of free technique during Saturday’s race leads to disqualification.
Please note that it is strictly forbidden to change the skis during the race. No one has the right of “free track” when passing by other competitors.

The jury and delegates along the track are able to disqualify or sanction competitors if their behavior is not correct or they may cause damage to others.

Those, which have been disqualified, have to take off their bib, if they want to continue on the race track. They still can use the same services as the other athletes (refreshment, medical care, shuttle service etc).

Along the race track medical and technical (waxing and pole change) services are provided, as well as refreshment stands.

10. Waxing service:
Friday, 10.02.2017 from 02.00pm till 07.00pm
Saturday, 11.02.2017 from 02.00pm till 07.00pm

11. Shuttle service: On Saturday, 11.02.2017, a shuttle service is provided from Cortina d’Ampezzo (central bus station) to Toblach/ Dobbiaco (train station). On Sunday, the shuttle goes from Toblach/ Dobbiaco (train station) to the starting area (Fiames Sport Nordic Center). Service is provided before and after the race and it is free of charge for participants.

12. Transportation of changing bags: All personal belongings must be put in the provided colored changing bags and be brought onto the provided vehicle of the OC. The bags have to be marked with the bib number and are redistributed in the finish area, where showers and changing rooms are provided (Cortina: Palestra Revis; Toblach: Nordic Arena). According to the start wave, the bags have different colors. Please remember your bag’s color in order to speed up the redistribution. Changing bags that have not been collected within an hour after the maximum time can be picked up at the Race office or the Organizing Committees office at Toblach (Nordic Arena). The OC is not responsible for delivery to the participant’s domicile, it happens on behalf of the participant and on its own costs. The OC is not responsible for valuables put into the changing bag.

13. Prize giving ceremony:
The prize giving ceremony takes place on Saturday at ca. 01.00pm in the city center of Cortina d’Ampezzo and on Sunday at ca. 12.00pm in the cross-country stadium of Toblach (Nordic Arena).

Combination Ranking: The race in classic technique (Saturday) and the race in free technique (Sunday) count for the Combination ranking.

Not collected prizes: will be stored in the OC’s office and can be picked up within a months after the races by their owners. If the OC has to send the prizes by post to their owners, this happens on the owner’s costs.

14. Complaints: Any complaints regarding conflicts with other athletes can be forwarded to the jury within 30 minutes after the race. Any complaints regarding the classification (racing time) have to be forwarded within 30 minutes after the posting. A charge of 100,00€ will apply and returned in case of acceptance.

15. Cancellation:
50% of the registration fee will be reimbursed (less eventual bank fees) if the OC has to cancel the event more than 24h before start. If cancelation is made less than 24h before start, the organizer will have the right to keep paid fees
In case of the lack of snow, the OC is entitled to set an alternative race track or to change the event’s date.

16. Responsibility:
• With the registration and payment of the corresponding fee, the participant agrees without exception to the above rules. For matters not covered by this rules, the rules contained in the FIS chart for promotional competitions „Popular races“ and the rules set up by „Ski Classics“ will apply. The OC may change the rules on its own behalf.
• The athlete notices that the Gran Fondo Dobbiaco – Cortina requires significant physically and technically efforts. For this reason, every competitor, when entering the race, must be personally responsible for declaring to be properly trained and releases the OC from every liability regarding accidents before, during or after the event causing damage on third persons and/ or their property.
• Every Italian citizen declares to be in possession of a valid medical certificate as foreseen in the rules.
• By registering, the participant agrees to release the organizer, sponsors, public institutions and land owners from all liabilities.
• The medical team has the right to prevent participants from continuing the race, if reasoned.
• The OC assumes no responsibility for the participant’s personal belongings.
• According to article 10 of law no. 675/96 laying down provisions for the protection of persons and other subjects regarding the processing of personal data, the subscriber authorizes the Organization board to use your personal information to send you promotional material about the race, rankings, photos and anything else related to the event itself.
